The total number of deaths from the coronavirus has exceeded the symbolic milestone of 32,000 deaths since the start of the health crisis in March, according to figures from Public Health France published this Thursday evening.

The number reached 32,019 in France.

Worldwide, the pandemic passed the milestone of one million deaths on Tuesday, according to an assessment established by AFP from official sources.

According to Public Health France, 63 people have died in the last 24 hours (compared to 64 in the previous 24 hours).

The number of confirmed cases reached 577,505 in total, with 13,970 in 24 hours (against 12,845 on Wednesday).

142 intensive care admissions

The positivity rate of the tests remains unchanged compared to the previous day, at 7.6%, against around 4% at the beginning of September, while 1,234 cases of grouped contamination, or “clusters”, are being investigated (-1 in 24 hours), including 239 in nursing homes.

There are currently 1,259 Covid-19 patients in intensive care, including 142 entries in the last 24 hours.

A figure well below the levels reached during the peak of the epidemic, with 7,000 patients in sheaves in early April, but which is progressing rapidly (there were 500 severe cases in sheaves in early September).
