White plan in red zone.

As of Tuesday, the Victor Provo hospital center in Roubaix activated its white plan, we learned this Thursday from the hospital.

The measure, impressive in the title, is rather reassuring in that it makes it possible to anticipate an influx of patients infected with the coronavirus to avoid saturation.

The hospital has thus taken the decision to reactivate its white plan "in view of the epidemic evolution and the increasingly numerous requests", it is explained in a press release published on Thursday.

In one week, the number of “Covid +” patients requiring hospitalization has doubled in Roubaix.

The idea is therefore "to avoid the saturation of the hospitalization capacities of the establishment" while the European Metropolis of Lille (MEL) was placed last Thursday in a reinforced alert zone.

A special Covid "hospital wing"

Concretely, the hospital is organizing itself to increase in stages the number of beds reserved for Covid-19.

Part of the pulmonology and neurology services were requisitioned and transformed into a "hospital wing with 19 Covid medicine beds", details the hospital.

The intensive care unit has seen its capacity increased by three beds for a total of 25.

According to the hospital, the significant increase in patients infected with the coronavirus in Roubaix "notably leads to the resumption of clusters in nursing homes".

In the Isabeau residence alone, around fifteen residents have tested positive.

The latter are however "taken care of within their place of life".
