An accident with dramatic consequences.

Several days ago, the filming of the fourteenth season of

Beijing Express

resumed after a hiatus of several months due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

While the race was initially scheduled to pass through Uganda, Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates, the route was changed and the candidates hit the road again in September via Turkey.

However, a serious road accident interrupted the program, according to

Last week, an 82-year-old driver lost control of his vehicle and crashed into two other automobiles.

In the first were a pair of candidates, a cameraman and their Turkish driver.

In the second were two members of the production and another Turkish driver.

According to the police report from local authorities, the reasons for the deviation of the car have not yet been determined.

The 82-year-old motorist died of his injuries in hospital.

Candidates repatriated to France

The candidates, as well as their cameraman, were injured in the accident.

One of the participants spent two nights in the hospital under observation and had stitches put in.

Both were subsequently taken out of the game for medical decision and were repatriated to France.

They were offered psychological support.

Their Turkish driver was not injured and escaped the accident unscathed.

According to the police report, the responsibility of the candidates and the production is not engaged in this accident.
