28-year-old deaf youth develops APP to help more than 600,000 hearing impaired people "see" voice

Shichengchuan was named "Guangdong Province self-improvement model".

"When God is closing a door, he is also opening a window."

At the end of March this year, the business financial magazine "Forbes" announced the 2020 list of the "30 Asian Elites Under 30". Shichengchuan, 28, from Qianwei, Sichuan, was selected.

In 2019, he was selected as one of the 2020 "China's 30 Elites Under 30".

Behind the halo, what is unknown is that Shichengchuan was deaf in both ears due to illness when he was 11 years old, but with his own efforts, he was admitted to Jinan University in 2011 with a naked score exceeding 41 points. Now he is Guangzhou Yin CEO of Book Technology Co., Ltd.

The "Yinshu APP" developed by the company has allowed more than 600,000 hearing impaired people to "see" the sound.

On September 27th, on the day of the 2020 International Deaf Day, reporters from West China Metropolis Daily and cover news spoke to Shichengchuan in Shenzhen via WeChat.

To allow the deaf to "see the sound"

Give up the high salary, resign and start a business

For the hearing impaired, the biggest dream is to be able to communicate with others normally.

Shichengchuan said that the best thing he learned at the time was to restore hearing, but limited by the level of technology, medical resources, and economic conditions, very few people could restore hearing after deafness. "I have a friend who majored in accounting. The school grades exceeded the average level, but after graduation, I applied for many financial positions, but were rejected on the grounds of hearing impairment and could only do some physical work."

In his sophomore year, Ishichengchuan, who saw AR glasses for the first time on the Internet, learned that technology can project virtual images onto glasses, and then came up with the idea of combining them with voice recognition technology to realize the "seeing" of the hearing impaired. Desire for what others say.

After graduating from university in 2015, Shi Chengchuan worked as a software engineer in a multinational company in Guangzhou with a high salary.

However, only half a year later, Shi Chengchuan resigned.

"My job at the time seems to be relatively lucky to ordinary people, and the treatment is also very good, but in my heart I hope to use what I have learned to make some efforts for the hearing impaired group, so I later quit my job and started a business."

"Seeing" someone talking for the first time

I was so excited that I shed tears

Afterwards, Shi Chengchuan found Chen Guoqiang and Peng Siqing who were graduate students at South China University of Technology. They hit it off and started to make a software and hardware prototype.

After the Spring Festival in 2016, the "Sound Book" project was officially put into research and development, trying to use technology to help the hearing impaired and ordinary people communicate better.

Their efforts have also received the attention of the leaders of South China University of Technology, and the school invited them to settle in the entrepreneurial base of South China University of Technology.

In this way, Ishigaki officially started his business.

On January 20, 2017, "Yinshu APP" was officially launched.

This software integrates a voice recognition function, and the hearing impaired can "see" the voice through text and answer voice calls.

"As long as you have a smart phone, you can use it."

Shi Chengchuan sighed: "I still remember the first time I used the'Audiobook APP' to talk to others, and I was so excited that I shed tears. From childhood to adulthood, my communication with others was through pen conversation, and the other party wrote a sentence. I write a sentence. Now, I can finally'see' what the other person is saying."

More than 600,000 people have been served

Hope to help 460 million hearing impaired people

Up to now, the "Audiobook APP" developed by the Shichengchuan team for the hearing impaired has gained more than 600,000 users and provided hundreds of millions of assisted communications for the hearing impaired at home and abroad.

Nowadays, through the "Audiobook APP", the hearing impaired can not only video chat with the able-bodied, but also understand the PPT video played by the teacher in the classroom.

It is understood that recently, the Shichengchuan team has designed a product that allows users to further amplify the volume of the phone when calling with the elderly or the hearing impaired, and can also convert the sound into subtitles and display them in large fonts. On the screen, let the other party listen and watch.

In this way, the elderly or the hearing-impaired people will not have barriers to communicate with others.

Shi Chengchuan said that his primary goal is to enable China's 8 million hearing-impaired people to communicate and live like hearing-impaired people, and then serve 460 million hearing-impaired people worldwide.
