The Hong Kong police is not only the best police force in Asia, but also one of the best in the world.

But this kind of status and reputation is not easy to say.

[Explanation] The gray-haired and torch-eyed former police "first brother" Li Mingkui is called "a generation of scholars" by many Hong Kong people.

During his tenure as the Commissioner of Police, many of his deeds were passed down as good stories. Now looking back on the camera during his 35-year career in the police force, he starts with an unintentional story.

Coach of the university basketball team. He is also the coach of the Hong Kong Police Basketball Team.

After class, I practiced with the Hong Kong police basketball team, and then joined their (police) basketball team. Two years later, I graduated and needed a job, so naturally I became a policeman.

[Explanation] Li Mingkui joined the Hong Kong Police Force in 1972. He recalled that he joined the Hong Kong Police Force when it became infamous.

At that time, Hong Kong people had a saying, "A good boy is not a errand" and "A good boy is not a policeman."

[Explanation] This sentence sounded the alarm for Li Mingkui.

In the following 35 years, he went from being led to reforms, to participating in reforms, and then to becoming the management to lead the reforms. He experienced the Hong Kong police force step by step into a high-level, professional and ideal police force. team.

However, after the "reform and opening up" and before the return of Hong Kong, the social security situation in Hong Kong posed a problem for this team.

After the reform and opening up of the mainland, many Hong Kong bandits and mainland criminals joined forces to commit crimes in Hong Kong.

At that time, there were looting with AK47 and grenade in Hong Kong.

We are very lucky, because the public security departments in the Mainland have helped us a lot during this period. I have personally felt the contribution and help made by the public security personnel in the Mainland to Hong Kong’s public security.

[Explanation] The contact between the law enforcement agencies of the two places has changed from the "cross-border crime case investigation" before the return to closer exchanges after the return. Li Mingkui is also a powerful witness.

As the commander-in-chief of Hong Kong's return to security work, Li Mingkui was deeply moved by his patriotic sentiments during his work contact with the mainland police.

In 1997, when Hong Kong returned to China, I was the commander-in-chief of Hong Kong's return to security and worked with friends from the Mainland police. I also admire their work attitude and work level.

I always tell my old colleagues that you must learn from the patriotic sentiments of the mainland police friends.

[Explanation] Out of gratitude for the various assistances of mainland law enforcement officers in the past, and driven by patriotism, when Li Mingkui retired from the police force, he volunteered to serve as the dean of the Hong Kong School of Public Administration, training excellent senior public administration for the mainland government and enterprises And manage talents, and promote the exchange and learning of civil servants in the two places, including Hong Kong police officers.

In the past 12 years, the college has successfully held more than 400 training courses for young and middle-aged cadres at the department level or above and training courses for senior corporate managers.

The main hope is to use Hong Kong as a platform to train some senior public administration talents for the Mainland.

I have known many friends who said that it is not easy to be a policeman, and that it is true that they have brought their family to the battlefield.

There are many policemen’s children, even his children, who are also bullied in dormitories and schools.

So I think these children, we should help them if we have the opportunity.

[Explanation] As a member who has participated in and led the reform of the police force, Li Mingkui has witnessed the police force gradually becoming the best in Asia from its reputation, knowing that everything is not easy.

He is eager to contribute to the police force that has served half his life.

At this time, the wife who loves painting expressed her willingness to auction her paintings and do some meaningful help for the police children.

We have raised about 300,000 yuan, and consider doing some more meaningful work, such as taking the children to the mainland to take a look.

My wife also agrees very much, so we used the money to visit the mainland when the police children’s children were on vacation, especially to visit some of the mainland’s history and culture, some urban development, and technological development to make them happy. , Through these activities, they can also learn more about the Mainland.

[Explanation] He was a strong-hearted police officer, and returned warmly after retirement.

Li Mingkui said that he has seen everything in his 35 years of police career. After retirement, he only wants to live a plain life, but he still needs to share his 35 years of work experience.

I am Chinese. Although I was born in Hong Kong, when I was born in a place controlled by the British, I am always a Chinese with black hair and yellow skin, although my hair is now gray.

So my feelings for Hong Kong are actually the same as my feelings for the country. I hope that I will do my best to contribute when I have the opportunity.
