Transport experiment across Lake Biwa with a drone Flying at 80 km / h Shiga September 29, 18:04

An experiment was conducted in Shiga Prefecture where a drone capable of flying long distances was loaded with luggage and crossed over Lake Biwa at once and carried to the opposite bank.

This experiment was conducted by a drone affiliated company in Kyoto City to carry luggage across Lake Biwa and to verify the communication system when flying long distances.

The experiment on the 29th began in Hikone City, Shiga Prefecture, where the drone loaded a case for carrying luggage with sweets from a local manufacturer, took off vertically, and then flew toward Lake Biwa.

The drone is about 1.8 meters wide and 1.3 meters long, with wings as well as propellers, and this time it flew at 80 km / h.

The drone landed safely in Takashima City, 16 kilometers away, in about 15 minutes, and the people involved checking the flight status on the monitor cheered.

After this, I was originally planning to return to Hikone City, where I left, but due to a problem with communication equipment, the rest of the experiment was postponed to the 30th.

Since drones are highly regulated in Japan, long-distance experiments are not often conducted, and according to the company's investigation, the 16 km that flew this time seems to be the longest in Japan.

Shuya Amatani of the company that conducted the experiment said, "While I was able to confirm the communication status when flying far away, there were problems, so I would like to continue working to fly safely."
