Decrease in health checkup rate at Corona Decreased by more than 30% year-on-year at 4:40 on September 29

According to academic societies and other organizations investigating the impact of the spread of the new coronavirus on the implementation of health examinations, the number of examinees has decreased by more than 30% compared to the same period of the previous year, and some medical institutions. Then, it was found that it may not be possible to complete the medical examination of unexamined persons by the end of the year.

This survey was conducted by the Japan General Health Examination Medical Association and the National Federation of Occupational Health Organizations, and 180 medical examination centers and hospitals nationwide responded.

As a result, the total number of health checkups from January to July and those who booked for August and September was about 14 million, compared to about 21 million people who took the same period in the previous year. It turned out that it had decreased by more than 30%.

In particular, due to the state of emergency, the number of patients examined in April and May decreased by about 80% from the same period of the previous year.

On the other hand, September is expected to have almost the same number of examinees as the previous year, and is on a recovery trend.

However, regarding the possibility of conducting a health examination that was canceled or postponed due to the state of emergency etc. within the fiscal year, two-thirds of medical institutions said that it was "almost possible", but the remaining one-third was "7". "About 80% to 80%", and the academic society points out that "if this tendency continues, about 10% of unexamined people may occur."

Katsuyuki Fukutake, Chairman of the Japan Society for General Health Examinations, said, "School health examinations are important to prevent sudden death, and cancer screenings are also important to detect illnesses quickly. Medical institutions are safe. We are working to prevent infection so that you can have a medical examination with peace of mind, so please have a medical examination. "
