Pray for a good harvest of Matsutake mushrooms at a shrine Iwaizumi-cho, Iwate September 28, 4:13

An annual festival of a local shrine was held in Iwaizumi Town, Iwate Prefecture, one of the leading matsutake mushroom producing areas in Japan, and the producers thanked the harvest and prayed for a good harvest.

Iwate Prefecture was quiet last year, and the yield of matsutake mushrooms is the second highest in all prefectures in Japan, and Iwaizumi Town, with its vast forests, is a major production area and is branded as "Iwaizumi Matsutake".

At the local "Iwaizumimatsutake Shrine", the annual festival was held on the 27th, and about 20 people including producers offered tamagushi, and thanked the harvest of this year and prayed for a good harvest in the future.

According to the Iwaizumi Matsutake Business Cooperative, the temperature and precipitation have been sluggish for the past few years due to the lack of conditions for the growth of Matsutake mushrooms, and last year the harvest was less than one-tenth of the average year. ..

This means that the climate is good and it is well harvested from late July to early last month.

Yoshiichiro Yaegashi, the president of the union, said, "I am relieved that the yield of this year is recovering. I want everyone in the country to taste the delicious Matsutake mushrooms from Iwaizumi."

The harvest of Matsutake mushrooms in Iwaizumi Town is expected to continue until the end of next month at the longest.
