On the 25th, the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Garrison in Hong Kong organized joint naval and air patrols in the third quarter of 2020. Relying on the patrol missions, the army, navy and air forces carried out joint search and rescue, naval and air patrols, joint verification, mutual confrontation and other actual combat exercises for comprehensive inspections. The troops stationed in Hong Kong perform defense capabilities.

At 8:40 in the morning of the same day, the command post issued an order, and the air force helicopters took off immediately. The navy ships completed patrol manpower preparation and battle position deployment, and left Stonecutters Island Naval Base.

This is a joint naval and air patrol operation organized by the Hong Kong Garrison. Army, navy and air forces rely on patrol missions to carry out actual combat exercises.

According to Wang Zilong, the deputy captain of a naval squadron of the Hong Kong Forces, searching and rescuing people in the nearby waters is the first exercise. The difficulty is mainly to shorten the search time, which requires close cooperation with air power.

After about half an hour, the Hong Kong troops stationed successfully found the wrecked person.

After rescuing the person who fell into the water, the medical staff of the Hong Kong Forces stationed in the helicopter immediately carried out emergency treatment, and at the same time quickly transferred to Qianghuishan Hospital for follow-up treatment.

Just after completing the sea and air search and rescue mission, the Hong Kong troops stationed in Hong Kong found a simulated suspicious ship near the Ninepin Islands. The ship was driving towards the sea at high speed. After receiving the joint verification order, the helicopter quickly moved forward to the target sea area and identified the target’s attributes. Propagating warnings, two groups of special forces teams arrived in the mission area by ships to carry out interception and verification missions.

Yang Zaifei, captain of the Special Operations Squad of the Hong Kong Forces, said: "The criminals are very cunning. We closely tracked and cooperated with ships and planes. We boarded the ship and searched for the first time, controlled the dangerous targets, and successfully completed the investigation and capture mission."

Liu Hua, a pilot of an aviation regiment of the Hong Kong Forces, said: “This mission closely meets the requirements of actual combat. We must pay more attention to the close coordination between air and sea. We are responsible for air reconnaissance missions and provide ground personnel with instructions and support at any time.”

It is reported that this exercise of special warfare, air defense, naval vessels, radar and other arms will be conducted in a continuous implementation, red-blue confrontation, and other methods in accordance with actual combat requirements.

Through sea and air patrols, the Hong Kong Forces normalizes emergency combat readiness exercises, actively explores and solves multiple problems in operations such as command, communication, coordination, and support, and fully tempers the emergency response capabilities of the force commander and the rapid response capability of the force.

During the entire patrol process, the Hong Kong Garrison strictly complied with the laws and regulations on Hong Kong waterways, ports and aviation management, and notified relevant departments of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government in advance.
