Develop a global dimension

Present at the Musée Grévin, Miraculous Ladybug is a very French super-heroine whose episodes multiply at each shot - or almost - references to the capital: Eiffel Tower, Parc de Princes (now "Princesses stadium"), etc.

A novelty in French animation, which hitherto avoided locating its heroes geographically, for fear that the program was poorly exported.

If, in her new episode, the heroine goes to New York, it is to develop the international dimension of the cartoon, as its creator Thomas Astruc explains.

"This allows us to do what we wanted from the start: create a great French-style Marvel, with a large universe and superheroes all over each country," he compares.

"Ladybug travels from country to country to introduce different new characters, which are all interconnected. In the first film, it's in New York, then it will be in Shanghai, and so on ...", adds producer Jérémy Zag .

Between the United States and Japan, the promising French exception

The comparison to the Marvel Universe can seem overwhelming.

But it is an adult reflection that young viewers of Miraculous Ladybug do not have, according to Jérémy Zag.

"A child who watches a Marvel program, he does not know the firm behind," he illustrates.

"The child sees Spiderman, Iron Man, Ladybug ... he sees his favorite heroes without making a difference."

For the producer, the French animation manages without problem to pull out of the game against the two giants of the sector.

"In France, we are lucky to have a biculture inherited from both Japanese heroes and American heroes. We know how to deal with the iconic side of the superheroes of the United States (Ladybug's red and black), everything by having a different, more Asian message (the power that comes from the heart) ", explains Jérémy Zag.

According to the producer, all that is missing from this recipe is the ability to "broadcast anywhere" to create worldwide success.

A planetary strike force that Disney Channel offers them.
