Proposed a method for collecting samples from the entrance of the new corona nose Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare September 26, 4:11

For testing for the new coronavirus, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare has also decided to allow patients to take their own samples from the entrance to the nose.

Currently, most publicly funded tests are conducted by doctors by wiping the mucus in the back of the nose to check for genes, but it has been pointed out that patients may sneeze and spread the infection.

For this reason, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare has proposed a method for people to be examined at an expert meeting held on the 25th to collect their own samples from the entrance of the nose.

According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, when the test results were compared when the samples were taken from the back of the nose and the entrance, the results of the PCR test matched at a rate of 83%.

In response, the expert council agreed that the patient would collect the sample himself from the entrance of the nose, subject to the supervision of a doctor.

On the other hand, the amount of virus is smaller than that of the sample taken from the back of the nose, and the target is limited to those who have symptoms such as fever, saying that "the sensitivity of the test is likely to decrease slightly".

In addition, since the amount of virus decreases especially after the 10th day after the onset, if the antigen test using the simple kit is negative, it is necessary to take the sample from the back of the nose and perform the PCR test.

The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare will notify these policies nationwide as soon as the regulatory approval procedure is completed.
