According to reports, three self-dead rats with unknown causes were recently found in a village three hours' drive from Menghai County. The township government immediately reported to the county CDC.
After on-site investigation by the Provincial Endemic Disease Prevention and Control Center and the State Center for Disease Control and Prevention and combined with laboratory testing, it was preliminarily determined that the rat plague occurred in Xiding Township on September 21.
On September 21, the national and provincial expert teams arrived in Menghai County within 12 hours of reporting the epidemic to carry out emergency response work.
After the outbreak, in accordance with the requirements of the "Emergency Plan for Plague Control in Yunnan Province", the Menghai County Party Committee and County Government quickly initiated Level IV emergency response to public health emergencies, established a rat plague epidemic management headquarters, organized a professional team of experts, and carried out inspections. Diagnosis and quarantine, comprehensive investigations of fever patients, isolation observation, epidemiological investigation and other measures for suspected patients, and comprehensive prevention and control of the epidemic.
At the same time, a patriotic sanitation campaign focusing on flea and rodent control was launched throughout the county.
After a comprehensive investigation, as of 18:00 on September 25, a 3-year-old child was diagnosed with a suspected bubonic plague case. His condition was mild. After treatment, the patient's condition was stable.
