An information brochure on abortion.

DURAND FLORENCE
The upward trend continues year on year.
A total of 232,200 voluntary interruptions of pregnancy (abortion) were recorded in 2019 in France, according to data unveiled this Thursday morning by Drees, the statistical service of the Ministry of Health.
This is a high since the 1990s, knowing that 224,300 abortion had been recorded in 2018.
La Drees also looks at the take-up rate, which is the average number of women in 1,000 who have this procedure.
On the rise since 1995, in 2019 it was 15.6 for women aged 15 to 49 in metropolitan France, and 28.2 in the overseas departments and regions (DROM), up 0 , 6 and 0.4 point compared to 2018.
Thirties more concerned
French women aged 20 to 29 remain the most affected by abortion, with a recourse rate of 27.9 per 1,000.
But the increase observed among those in their thirties since the 2010s has been confirmed.
For 30-34 year olds, the take-up rate increased by 3.9 points between 2010 and 2019. Conversely, it decreases among 15-17 year olds (from 10.5 to 5.7) and 18-19 years (from 22.2 to 16.7 abortion) in ten years.
In addition, deep differences appear according to the territories.
The lowest rates are observed in Pays de la Loire, Brittany and Grand-Est, and the highest in Corsica, Paca and Overseas.
Another lesson from the work of DREES: women with the lowest income have the highest rate of abortion.
There are thus 11 points of difference between the richest 10% of French women and the less well-off 10%.
