Sixteen deaths recorded in one week in Guadeloupe

In one week, 16 deaths from the coronavirus were recorded in Guadeloupe, said the prefecture on Tuesday, a record number since the start of the epidemic, bringing the total number of deaths in the archipelago to 42.

Guadeloupe is very clearly above the alert threshold for the incidence rate with 290.54 positive people per 100,000 inhabitants over a period of one week.

The positivity rate increases: at 22.57% it is above the alert threshold set at 10%.

The reproduction factor of the virus (1.05) is "stable and close to 1", and the prefecture intends to put it "below 1", announces the prefecture.

Test positivity rate rises again, more than 10,000 new cases

In France, the latest assessment of the epidemic, published Tuesday evening, shows that the circulation of the virus continues.

The test positivity rate increased for the fourth day in a row, to 6.1%, according to data released by Public Health France.

10,008 new cases were thus detected in 24 hours.

An imminent Defense Council

A Defense Council is scheduled for Wednesday or Thursday, the Elysée told AFP on Tuesday, while Emmanuel Macron said that several decisions would be taken "in the next few hours", especially for Paris.

They should be communicated by the Minister of Health Olivier Véran, "either Wednesday evening or Thursday morning," said the Head of State visiting a nursing home in Loir-et-Cher.

Towards the announcement of new restrictive measures?

According to corroborating sources, a meeting was held on Monday between the Ile-de-France regional health agency, the town hall and the Paris police headquarters and, according to concordant sources, the ban on sale of alcohol from 8 p.m., the ban on all gatherings beyond 10 people, as well as the lowering of the maximum authorized level for large gatherings of 5,000 to 1,000 people.

The ban on the rental of halls for parties, including weddings, is also being considered.

On the other hand, no measure would be considered for nursing homes in the Paris region, transport, or timetable restrictions for bars and restaurants, categorically rejected by the mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo.

The Scientific Council, for its part, calls for stricter constraints in the 20 large metropolises.

The cities of Lyon, Bordeaux, Toulouse, Lille and Marseille have all announced new restrictions in recent days.

In the Gard and the Alpes-Maritimes, the mask is now mandatory in some municipalities, restaurant opening hours are limited and student parties are prohibited.
