It was triggered 205,510 times in 2019. That is to say 563 times each day and therefore more than 23 times per hour.

According to the latest report on violations of the Highway Code and the Transport Code, published Monday by the National Interministerial Road Safety Observatory (ONISR), the radar that flashed the most last year is installed in the department of Alpes-Maritimes.

Located on the A8 motorway, in the direction Nice-Cannes, just before exit 48 “Cagnes-sur-Mer”, this equipment is at the top of the top 10, as in 2018 already.

That year, however, he had flashed "only" 115,558 times, or nearly 90,000 times less.

Lowering of the maximum authorized speed in this zone

According to ONISR, this “sudden increase in infractions” can be explained in particular by “the lowering of the maximum authorized speed from 110 km / h to 90 km / h on October 1, 2018” in this area between Cagnes-sur -Mer and Saint-Laurent-du-Var.

From that date until 2019, “this radar has suffered several degradations”, which could also explain the lower figure of 2018, notes the organization.

In the top three in the 2019 ranking, there is also a radar positioned on the A35 between Colmar and Strasbourg (161,725 flashes) and another installed along the A25 between Dunkirk and Lille (161,233 flashes).
