Al-Barari added - in an interview for (9/22/2020) of the "Beyond the News" program - that the Democratic candidate for the US presidential elections, Joe Biden, said that the United States would return to the nuclear agreement with Iran with minor amendments, which Tehran is relying on.

Al-Barari added that these US sanctions complicate the US’s relations with the international community, and have isolated it without isolating Iran, because 13 countries in the Security Council did not vote in favor of America, stressing that this will push the United States to clash.

Not only with China and Russia, but with European countries that rejected these sanctions.

Amid European, Russian and Chinese objections, the US administration announced the re-imposition of UN sanctions on Iran, by activating the mechanism for resolving the conflict with the nuclear agreement, from which Washington withdrew.

In the wake of this action, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order authorizing the imposition of severe sanctions on Iran, and aimed at restricting its nuclear and missile efforts and its plans to obtain weapons.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that the new sanctions package includes the Iranian defense minister and two key figures in Tehran's uranium enrichment program.

On the other hand, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said that US sanctions on Iran are not new and will not affect much, but he stressed that with these sanctions measures are not taken against his country, but against the whole world.

For his part, Director of Research at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, Patrick Clausen, said that every country has the right to interpret Security Council decisions according to its vision, stressing that the nuclear agreement allows any country that sees violations to reactivate sanctions on Iran, and this is what the United States did.

Clausen added that the US President had repeatedly sought to meet with his Iranian counterpart, Hassan Rouhani, to negotiate the nuclear deal, but the latter refused.

But the researcher specializing in American Iranian studies, Tawheed Asadi, considered that Trump aims, in his quest to meet Rouhani, to take pictures that will benefit him at the domestic level, recalling his meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

Asadi added that the United States does not respect the Security Council resolutions or the nuclear agreement, pointing to the contradiction in Washington, which withdrew from the agreement and then imposed sanctions under it.

The Iranian researcher explained that these sanctions were imposed unilaterally by the United States, after it failed to mobilize support for it. This is not the first time that Washington imposes sanctions on Iran, and it will not be the last, which is "inhuman" sanctions.

Asadi considered that the United States had failed in diplomatic efforts after it withdrew from the nuclear agreement, and with these sanctions "are pouring oil on the fire."
