The Secretary-General of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, Dr. Ali Al-Qarah Daghi, said that God imposed zakat on Muslims for two reasons: The first is to purify the hearts, souls, minds and souls of the rich and the poor.

In statements to the episode (5/8/2020) of the program "Sharia and Life in Ramadan", he added that the second reason for imposing zakat is to pay zakat, and he mentioned in the Quran, "Take from their money a charity that purifies and purifies them."

And he continued his hadith that the Messenger, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, was the best in Ramadan, because it is the month of good deeds and a month in which the reward and reward are doubled. The Messenger, peace be upon him, said, “The most beloved of people to God is the most beneficial to people,” and generosity and charity are among the best friends with God.

He emphasized that the concept of zakat does not mean giving money only, just as Islam is binary concepts, and as Imam al-Ghazli said, “Zakat on knowledge is spread, and zakat on charity is directed at serving people, and zakat on money is what the Holy Qur’an specified.” Each blessing has zakat and every thing has zakat different from others. .

And on the acceleration of zakat, especially in the time of Corona to help those stranded, Al-Qaradaghi said that he conducted a study on the zakat of Muslims in the Islamic world and it was found that it amounts to between 300 and 400 billion dollars, and this is in addition to state and oil funds, but it is only the money of private companies, He confirms that if this money had been spent in a clear and correct manner, he would not have remained poor.

He warned that the Noble Qur’an talked about an institution for zakat, and that is why he mentioned its workers, and states must supervise this institution without interfering in its affairs. He continued that if Zakat al-Fitr was collected this year at a minimum, it would amount to $ 4 billion, and he added that the money for Umrah that is Muslims have been banned from it this year due to Corona, which amounts to a minimum of more than 36 billion dollars, and spending this money on the poor is better with God than Umrah.

He appealed to all Muslim and Muslim merchants in general to pay zakat, and he also appealed to countries to organize Zakat institutions that are independent in their work, because this will contribute to alleviating the suffering of Muslims, especially after the Corona crisis, and Zakat must be spent according to the banks mentioned in the Holy Quran.
