France recorded 5,298 new cases of Covid-19 in 24 hours, less than this weekend, but the positivity rate increased for the third day in a row, according to data released on Monday by Public Health France.
This is less than this weekend, when the country had counted nearly 13,500 new cases on Saturday and more than 10,500 new cases of coronavirus on Sunday.

Hospitalizations and resuscitation on the rise
The figures for Monday generally mark a brake on the figures for other days, due to the Sunday closure of laboratories in particular.
The positivity rate (proportion of the number of positive people compared to the total number of people tested) has increased to 5.9% (against 5.7% the day before).

Lyon hardened its anti-Covid measures
Since the start of the epidemic, at least 31,338 Covid-related deaths have been recorded in France, 53 more than the day before, including 20,778 in hospitals.
After Marseille and Nice, Lyon in turn toughened anti-Covid measures on Monday by limiting public gatherings to 1,000 people, extending the wearing of compulsory masks and limiting visits to nursing homes.
