[Explanation] In April 1990, information about Chinese soldiers appeared for the first time in a briefing on UN peacekeeping operations.

2020 marks the 30th anniversary of the Chinese military's participation in UN peacekeeping operations.

A few days ago, many Chinese peacekeeping officers and soldiers faced the camera of a reporter from China News Agency and told their own peacekeeping stories.

[Explanation] Gao Chaoning, the commander of the 18th batch of Chinese peacekeeping forces to Lebanon and captain of the multi-functional engineer unit, who returned from a peacekeeping mission just a month ago, introduced to reporters that up to now, Chinese peacekeeping officers and soldiers have performed minesweeping tasks on the "blue line" In the past 14 years, it has achieved "the largest number and fastest speed" and "zero casualties and zero accidents" in mine clearance.

The eighteenth batch of demining officers and soldiers of his peacekeeping force to Lebanon has so far cleared 4 operational minefields, 1 suspected minefield, and 1 humanitarian minefield. 1,577 mines were discovered and destroyed, and the total area of mine clearance was 10427 square meters. Meter.

This is the first time that the area of a single batch of Chinese peacekeeping and demining officers and soldiers has exceeded 10,000 square meters since China began sending peacekeeping troops to Lebanon in 2006.

Gao Chaoning said frankly that mine clearance in Lebanon is not easy. It can be described as "all in sweat in summer and mud in winter".

In summer, the weather is hot and the surface temperature is close to 40 degrees. My mine-sweeping officers and soldiers need to wear protective clothing weighing more than ten kilograms. They work in a kneeling position for about 6 hours under the scorching sun.

In winter, it rains a lot and the weather is cold and gloomy. After kneeling work, the lower body is covered with mud, and the body is often trembling from the cold.

Snakes, centipedes, scorpions, etc. are often dug during mine clearance, and they will be bitten or stabbed if they are not careful.

[Explanation] For Mi Xiugang, who has been to South Sudan for three peacekeeping missions, in addition to gaining achievements, he has also witnessed local development and changes.

Recalling the scene when he first came to South Sudan in 2015, Mi Xiugang confessed that the local people did not know the peacekeeping soldiers at first, and even used stones to attack the vehicles and guard posts of the peacekeeping forces.

After years of hard work, peacekeeping officers and soldiers have stopped conflicts, protected civilians, and saved lives in their missions, bringing peace to the local area and gaining public recognition.

From the fact that the one we protect is a refugee camp and the surrounding villages, this is a big change.

You are like the two villages we just mentioned. When we came back, they had already begun to cultivate wasteland, grow crops, and grow grain in the village, and then raise some family livestock such as sheep and cattle.

They are often seen sleeping outside the house at night without closing the door.

Because that place is where our Chinese infantry battalion is patrolled for 24 hours, so in their words, the arrival of our Chinese troops brought them safety.

[Explanation] In recent years, as the UN peacekeeping situation has become increasingly complicated, more and more female officers and soldiers have also put on "blue helmets" and joined the peacekeeping missions.

Over the past 30 years, the Chinese military has sent more than 1,000 female officers and soldiers to participate in UN peacekeeping operations.

As the third batch of French translators for China's peacekeeping medical team in Mali, Guan Zhumiao contributed a "female power" to China's peacekeeping operations from communicating with local women and children to implementing humanitarian medical rescue.

In fact, it was relatively few before. Of course, the United Nations now also advocates women to participate more in peacekeeping operations to contribute to this aspect (advantage) of femininity.

Be more careful, and then communicate with other people, it can actually make them more defensive, such a female power.

In fact, the strength of women is that although she is very gentle, she is very firm, especially when communicating with local children and local women.

[Explanation] Over the past 30 years, on the peacekeeping battlefield far away from the motherland, Chinese peacekeeping officers and soldiers have fulfilled their duties, fulfilled their missions, faced dangers, and were brave and fearless. With selfless dedication and sacrifice, they practiced the sacredness of the Chinese military in fulfilling the responsibilities of a great power and supporting the great revival of the Chinese nation mission.
