Firefighters save two motorists from rising waters near Nice

The storm was particularly violent at the end of the morning and the water rose very quickly.

This Sunday around noon, two motorists found themselves stranded in their car by a meter of water at a mini-tunnel in Saint-Laurent-du-Var, near Nice, said the Departmental Fire Service and relief (Sdis) of the Alpes-Martimes.

The vehicle came to a stop in this access allowing access to the parking lot of the port of this town on the Riviera coast.

"Extracted by the first device arrived on site, [the two occupants of the car] show no injuries," said Sdis.

Access to the mini-tunnel has since been closed to traffic by the municipal police of Saint-Laurent-du-Var.
