Among the confirmed cases that day included a virus researcher in the laboratory of the School of Public Health of the University of Hong Kong (HKU), but she did not process contagious virus samples during the incubation period.

  Of the 13 new cases, 9 were imported cases and 4 were local cases.

One of the local cases is related to a previously confirmed case, and the source of the other three is unknown.

The cumulative number of confirmed cases in Hong Kong increased to 5,009.

  3 cases of unknown origin, including a 23-year-old Indian domestic helper who lives with her employer in Ma On Shan. Most of them are at home. During the holiday on the 14th, she went shopping and eating with two friends in Mong Kok, Sham Shui Po and Tsim Sha Tsui; one was 79 A year-old retired woman living in Yauai Village, Tuen Mun, developed a fever on the 11th. During the incubation period, she went to the Yauai shopping mall and had breakfast. A 28-year-old female researcher in the laboratory of the School of Public Health of the University of Hong Kong also diagnosed.

She lives in Sai Ying Pun. Apart from going to work, she had eaten with friends and went shopping during the incubation period.

  Zhang Zhujun, director of the Infectious Diseases Division of the Center for Health Protection of the Department of Health of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, revealed that the researcher would process inactivated samples of the new coronavirus and sequence the genes, and enter the data into the computer.

Laboratory staff will be tested for the virus every week, and the last test was on the 10th. The researcher had a negative test result at the time, so it is believed that she will be infected in the near future.

Based on this, it is estimated that she has not processed contagious samples within 14 days.

Zhang Zhujun said that there is no evidence that the source of the infection came from the laboratory.

  Zhang Zhujun also said that a colleague who had shared a computer with the researcher had an uncertain test result of the sample earlier, and was temporarily negative after repeated tests. If it continues to be negative and has no symptoms, he will be sent to the quarantine center for isolation and observation.

Other colleagues, friends and family members who have been in contact with the researcher will be listed as close contacts and will also be sent to the quarantine center.

  Yu Huiling, chief administrative manager of the Hong Kong Hospital Authority (HA), announced that as of 9 am, in the past 24 hours, the HA had reported 24 suspected cases.

There are still 158 confirmed patients in 17 hospitals, 13 of whom are in critical condition, 10 are in serious condition, and the remaining 135 are in stable condition.
