Because I liked things like models when I was very young, our school has a carpentry room. I have been working in it for three to four months, so I understand a little bit.

In 2016, by chance, when I set off in the south, I saw someone making a wooden boat model. I was very interested. When I came back, I started to look up the information and start making it.

[Explanation] Because of his early exposure to the woodworking industry, Cui Xinjun was familiar with making ancient ship models, from the large deck to the small window lattices that he carved with logs a little bit.

Checking information, cutting and polishing, shaping and assembling, the manufacturing process of each ship is very cumbersome and time-consuming.

After a long period of accumulation, Cui Xinjun’s carefully crafted Qing Dynasty cruise ship was finally completed at the beginning of this year. This ancient ship is 95 cm long, 15 cm wide, and 35 cm high. The hull is divided into two floors and more than 40 doors and windows. , And can be opened freely. The traditional frame and tenon process is adopted as a whole. There are more than 1,500 parts and components, which are highly simulated and quite spectacular.

The characteristic of this Qing Dynasty official (tour) ship is that it incorporates some elements of ancient Chinese architecture in it, and it has cornices.

Its difficulty lies mainly in windows and doors, because its components are too small and too small to make.

The wood used is mainly camphor wood, which is not easy to crack.

[Explanation] Cui Xinjun's job is an ordinary worker in a machinery company. Because of his busy routine, he can only make ancient ship models until the weekend is off.

Every weekend, Cui Xinjun plunges into the "studio", stays for one day, and often messes up the room.

I don't have time to work, and I want to do it in my heart. It's quite addictive anyway.

Next, after a few more years, I will retreat and do this wholeheartedly.

[Explanation] Cui Xinjun said that he will continue to study and improve his skills on the road of making ancient ship models to make his works more artistic.
