As part of the activities of the "Readers Club", the Sharjah Book Authority hosted Emirati novelist, poet and critic Sultan Al Amimi, Director of the Arab Poetry Academy of the Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi, in a dialogue session (remotely) moderated by Nada Al Shaibani, in which he spoke about his experiences in the fields of poetry and novel , And popular literature.

The session came as a continuation of a series of sessions organized by the "Readers Club" (remotely), which hosts a group of prominent Arab and international writers and poets, with the aim of continuing the cultural movement in the Emirate of Sharjah.

Al-Amimi emphasized that the writer's intensification of real reading and supplementing his balance with knowledge makes the responsibility of writing greater for him, pointing to the increased difficulty of writing for him after authoring and publishing two novels, four short story collections, and 20 different publications in several literary and research fields, stressing that the writer's responsibility towards his production and ideas The discussion in it should increase with the passage of time and the increase in his readings and writings.

Al-Amimi said: “Reading is an important fuel for the writer to continue producing it, as it helps him to refine his ideas further, and at the same time protect him from falling into repetition, or falling into the trap of symmetry with other writings and literature, which makes literary work lose its value.”

He added: “The work in the field of fictional and fictional authorship varies from one job to another, and may require years, as my novel (P.O. Box 1003) took four years, while it took two years for the novel (one room is not enough) to mature, while I brought my novel New three years ago ».

Al-Amimi advised novice writers the need to intensify and diversify their readings at the same time, and not rely on reading one color from the spectrums of literature and science, stressing the importance of learning about the various things that have been produced in the human sciences, such as philosophy, history, anthropology, languages ​​and biology, so that the writer can create integrated worlds In his writings, he created real people able to express his narrative ideas.

Regarding his entry into the field of poetry studies, he pointed out that his passion came through his interest in the Emirati poetic experience, which is an important component of the national identity components, as well as it reflects part of the region's geography and history, as well as documenting the spoken Emirati dialect and the changes that have occurred in it.

Al-Amimi, who is currently working on composing a dictionary that deals with the Emirati dialect, stressed the need for academic efforts to search and address everything related to and related to Emirati history, pointing out that his dictionary contains many vocabulary that is no longer used due to many circumstances and variables.
