No major upheavals for African nations in the monthly FIFA Ranking, updated on September 17, 2020. Senegal, which is still 20th, remains the best placed team on the continent, ahead of Tunisia (26th, +1) and Nigeria (29th, +2).

Notably, this is the first time that three African countries have appeared in the Top 30 of the FIFA Ranking, since the January 2018 edition.

The other best placed African nations are Algeria (35th), Morocco (43rd), Ghana (46th), Egypt (51st), Cameroon (53rd), Mali (57th ex-aequo, -1 ) and DR Congo (57th ex-aequo, -1).

Belgium remains in the lead ahead of France

No strong progression or tumble to report, however.

With the Covid-19 pandemic, few international matches have indeed been played in recent weeks.

And no African national team played during the FIFA window in September.

At the world level, Belgium remains first ahead of France (2nd), Brazil (3rd), England (4th) and Portugal (5th).
