According to the Propaganda Department of the Meigu County Party Committee of Liangshan Prefecture, Sichuan Province, the staff of Meigu Dafengding National Nature Reserve recently discovered an albino wild red panda while collating infrared camera data on the Yakou corridor. This is the first time in the district.
The camera captured two photos and two videos of the albino panda.
The video clearly shows that an albino red panda is walking leisurely through the lush primitive deciduous broad-leaved forest. Its body, ears, and nose hair are white, the color of its paws remain the original brown, and the eyes and mouth are black.
Based on these external characteristics in the videos and photos, experts judged that the red panda is an albino individual; judging from its size, it is a sub-adult or young red panda.
Experts say that it is very rare to detect albino wild red pandas in the wild.
