Soon a "made in France" medical cannabis sector?

It could be a small revolution.

This Wednesday, the parliamentary mission on the different uses of cannabis presents its progress report on therapeutic cannabis, while the experimentation, scheduled for September, was postponed until January 2021. The latter had yet been voted on, at the National Assembly, in October 2019.

✅ Amendment adopted unanimously by the deputies, thank you!

This important experimentation with medical #cannabis will be conducted in a scientific, secure and evaluated environment.

“We've been ready for two years,” says Jouany Chatoux.

This Creuse farmer has become, in just a few years, THE specialist in the cultivation of medical cannabis.

Since 2018, he has been preparing for its marketing, and already cultivates between ten and 15 hectares of cannabis.

Be careful, nothing illegal here!

It is unprocessed industrial hemp with a THC level that does not exceed 0.2% and whose cultivation route is made to make flowers.

Permissions that are desired

“You should know that farmers' incomes in the Massif Central are the lowest in France.

We struggle to make a living from our animal productions.

So what interested me was to have additional income.

But also to be able, with this culture, to bring a little more comfort to the patients ”, he explains.

The catch?

For now, it is still prohibited to produce therapeutic cannabis in France, and to use flowering tops (the flower of cannabis).

“For the moment, we are not in therapy, but rather in the food supplement, the aromatic and medicinal plant.

But if tomorrow, we are given the authorizations, the time to do the work, it can create twenty to thirty jobs, he argues.

And within two years, we can have a hundred jobs just for the site!

".

A "health scandal"?

Supported by the president of the agglomeration community of Grand Guéret and regional councilor of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Eric Correia, within the framework of the “Particular plan for the Creuse”, the farmer is impatiently awaiting the green light from the authorities to be able to market his hemp.

“It was recorded by the Prime Minister as part of this departmental plan, but we still do not have the authorizations.

Frankly, it's almost a health scandal, he loses his temper.

When you think about the number of sick people that you could relieve… It's crazy that it takes so long ”.

And for good reason: more than 3,000 patients are waiting for the implementation of this medical cannabis experiment which could relieve neuropathic pain refractory to therapy, severe and drug-resistant forms of epilepsy, certain cancers, or even multiple sclerosis.

In the ocean of doubt, @GilantonM's soothing and clear voice is so essential.

Thank you, Madam, and the association @apaisers for being at the forefront for the medical use of cannabis in France.

Therapeutics in relation to recreation

Ultimately, Jouany Chatoux fears above all that the products marketed within the framework of this experiment, then if it is validated, come from foreign sectors.

This is the case today with hemp and CBD products sold in France.

“French farmers do not have the right to process hemp and market it, for the moment, all these products come from other countries.

And the risk is that it will stay that way afterwards, ”he explains.

Le Creusois, already auditioned a few months ago by the parliamentary mission for its expertise in the cultivation of therapeutic cannabis, will be heard a second time on September 23.

The objective: the establishment of a therapeutic and well-being cannabis sector

made in France

.

6/6 The launch of this #experiment is also a lever for the creation of a true French sector.

But first of all, the decree must be issued so that the #experimentation can finally start on January 1, 2021.

France is one of the last countries in Europe to drag its feet to legalize medical cannabis, and choose to toughen its legislation on the consumption of cannabis for recreational use.

However, in 2018, the WHO proposed removing cannabis from the category of substances with "particularly dangerous properties".
