The day after he went to the provincial capital of Taiyuan to donate hematopoietic stem cells, Wang Guobin returned to the village to continue working. It has been nearly a month and he said he did not feel unwell.

Wang Guobin is 42 years old. His father was a village doctor.

Affected by his father, Wang Guobin applied to the health school when he was young, determined to save the dead and heal the wounded. Now he has been serving as a village doctor in Wangshi Village for more than 20 years.

There are more than 1,400 villagers in Wangshi Village. On weekdays, everyone has headaches and mental illness, so they have to go to Wang Guobin.

Since 2011, Wang Guobin began to donate blood free of charge. Over the years, he has donated nearly 3,000 ml of blood. His wife Shen Suxia also insisted on donating blood free of charge for many years under his influence.

"In the past, a person in our village suffered from leukemia and couldn't find a matching hematopoietic stem cell. Then he passed away. As a doctor, I was heartbroken and powerless, always thinking about what I could do." April 25, 2014 During an unpaid blood donation process, Wang Guobin volunteered to sign up to join the database of Chinese hematopoietic stem cell donors.

"Since then, I have been waiting for the notification of the successful matching." On May 12 this year, the Red Cross Society of Changzhi City called Wang Guobin to inform him of the initial matching of a patient with a blood disease seeking help. Ask if he is willing to match again.

"Finally has a chance." After receiving the notice, Wang Guobin began to actively contact the Red Cross. On July 1, a 10 ml blood sample was collected in Changzhi City for high-resolution testing. "After the blood sample was collected, I was worried about whether For high-precision matching, I was very anxious during the month of waiting."

It is very difficult for hematopoietic stem cell donors and help-seekers to match successfully. Even if the match is successful, it is not always possible to donate successfully.

On August 5, after receiving the news that he passed the medical examination, Wang Guobin discussed with his wife to go to Taiyuan to donate hematopoietic stem cells.

"I have always supported his idea, but this time I was very worried. I didn't want him to go." Shen Suxia was a little choked when she recalled her husband discussing donation matters with her, "He always persuaded me to agree and show me I only agreed with the living conditions of many donors after donating, but I was still worried.”

After Wang Guobin arrived in Taiyuan, his father called him to go home out of worry.

It is known that the hematopoietic stem cells in the bone marrow blood are directly mobilized into the peripheral blood by intramuscular injection of mobilizers, and then the whole blood can be collected from the arm vein to extract the hematopoietic stem cells. This method is very safe. Wang Zhankui, Wang Guobin’s father Rest assured.

After four and a half days of preparation at the Second Hospital of Shanxi Medical University, Wang Guobin successfully completed the donation on August 20, and his hematopoietic stem cells flowed into the patient's body.

"On the day he came back, he started to see the people in the village without any discomfort." Shen Suxia said, seeing her husband working normally every day, she was relieved.

At present, many people still lack understanding of the work of hematopoietic stem cell donation, worrying about the damage to their health.

Wang Guobin said that he hopes that more people will know more about hematopoietic stem cell donation, and he hopes that more people will join the database of hematopoietic stem cell donors in China and save lives with their own blood.
