On the evening of the 16th, a 70-year-old man fishing in Numata City, Gunma Prefecture, was attacked by a bear and suffered a serious injury that broke his head.

According to police, a 70-year-old man living alone in Yamanakazawa, Sayamamachi, Numata City, was attacked by a bear around 4 pm on the 16th.



The man went down the mountain, drove himself back home, and was taken to the hospital by a neighbor, but he was seriously injured with a broken head.



The man is being treated in the hospital, but he is conscious and has no life-threatening consequences.



According to police, the bear is about 1 meter and 50 centimeters in length and escaped from the scene after attacking the man.



Police are patroling the area around the site and calling for caution when entering the mountains, as bears have been attacking the prefecture one after another this month.
