The deadline for the admission of candidatures for the David Gistau Award has been closed with more than 350 works competing for the 10,000 euro prize in the first edition of this award created jointly by
Unidad Editorial
and
Vocento
in memory of the journalist who died this year.
The David Gistau Award recognizes contributions and pieces of journalistic opinion published or broadcast between January 1 and June 30, 2020 in
the Spanish language
.
Among the applications received are works from newspapers and magazines, as well as from the digital press, as well as from radio and television.
Regarding the origin, there are candidacies from the field of the regional, national and also international press, some from countries such as Mexico or Colombia.
This award aims to value quality and independent journalism, honestly and courageously embodied by David Gistau.
The jury in charge of awarding the award will be appointed by the organizing groups from among prestigious personalities of journalism and culture.
It will proceed to the examination, qualification and failure of the works according to their journalistic quality, literary benefits, informative value, opportunity, treatment of the subject and other possible arguments that the jury considers convenient to value, within the values that David Gistau embodied.
