Spain exceeds 600,000 infections since the start of the pandemic.

The figures released this Tuesday by the Ministry of Health show

9,437 new confirmed cases since Monday

.

This is a worrying fact and has been common in our country for a few weeks.

Health reported 27,404 positives since Friday (the figures are not updated on weekends), an average of more than 9,000 daily.

It must be taken into account, in addition, that the statistics of the ministry this Tuesday do not have the

The almost 10,000 new registered infections include those that were performed the PCR test in previous days, but whose result has been released between yesterday and today, as well as

the PCRs done in the last 24 hours

.

Regarding the latter, there are

3,022

, one less than the previous day.

A third of them in Madrid (1,207), Navarra (302) and the Basque Country (270).

The official count has also added

156 new deaths

to the global number of people who have lost their lives in Spain due to the virus, which

already exceed 30,000

(30,004, specifically).

Of course, this data does not count the deaths in residences or those who presented symptoms compatible with the coronavirus, but those who did not perform a PCR test to confirm it.

With a death date in the last week, 303 deaths have been reported.

As in contagions,

practically a third of them are concentrated in Madrid

, which reports 115. In second place is Andalusia, which registers 48;

Castilla and León, 31;

Galicia, 28;

Valencia, 15;

Canarias, 12;

Baleares, 10. In addition, Navarra, Castilla La Mancha and La Rioja add up to eight;

Catalonia, five;

Extremadura and Murcia, four;

Asturias, Ceuta and the Basque Country, two;

and Melilla, one.

Aragon and Cantabria are the only communities that have not counted any deaths in recent days.

In addition,

2,138 infected people have been admitted to the hospital in the last week

and 1,229 in the last 24 hours.

The community that has accumulated the most hospitalizations in the last seven days is Madrid, which reports 388. Andalusia follows very closely, with 383. Both regions are quite far from Castilla y León, which is in third place with 207 admissions.

Likewise,

151 patients have been transferred to Intensive Care

during the same period of time and 65 have been added to the total, so that there are already 12,868 patients who have required ICU since the start of the pandemic.

Health has also revealed that 1,035 patients have been discharged in the last day.

Regarding the healthcare capacity of hospitals to care for those infected, it remains after the increase in the previous day.

Thus, the official report notifies that, on average,

the percentage of beds occupied by Covid-19 in Spain is 8.5%.

The regions with the highest occupancy continue to be Madrid (21%);

Aragon, Balearic Islands, Castilla La Mancha and the Basque Country (12%);

and La Rioja (11%).

Although it is true that the current situation cannot yet be compared with March - the number of PCRs carried out now is much higher and the rate of growth of the curves of deceased and admitted is slower -, the truth is that since last 20 August Health will begin to register in its reports the care capacity of hospitals in Spain, this indicator has practically doubled.

Specifically,

almost a month ago the percentage of beds occupied by Covid patients was 4.30%

, compared to the current 8.5%.

At the European level, Spain continues to be

the second country in Europe with the most

Covid-19 infections (603,167), only behind Russia (1,068,320).

It is followed by the United Kingdom and France, with 387,252 and 371,125, respectively.

The country with the highest number of deaths continues to be the United Kingdom (41,637), followed by Italy (35,624) and France (30,950).

In addition,

Spain continues to lead in cumulative incidence (AI) in the last 14 days

among the European countries that have registered the most infections.

Our country reports 253 positives for every 100,000 inhabitants.

France is in second position, with 151 infected.

Ukraine, Romania and Belgium have, for their part, 79, 74 and 71 positives, respectively.
