As one might expect, Loire-Atlantique and Maine-de-Loire officially passed into the red zone, called the “active circulation zone” of the coronavirus, this Sunday.

This means that the epidemic is progressing and that the incidence rate of these two departments has exceeded the alert threshold of 50 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants, even if it remains below the national average.

The consequence of this passage in the red zone is the return of the obligation of an empty seat of separation between two people or groups of 10 people maximum coming together to the cinema, in a theater, a meeting room, a gymnasium or a marquee.

In short, all places open to the seated public.

[# COVID19] As of tomorrow, September 12, 2020, 42 departments will be in Active Virus Circulation Zones (ZCA), including 2 in a state of health emergency, this makes 12 new departments compared to last week.

New measures to follow

Since Saturday, wearing a mask has been compulsory throughout the territory of the cities of Nantes, Saint-Herblain, Saint-Sébastien-sur-Loire and Bouguenais (Loire-Atlantique).

It is also used in a large part of the city of Saint-Nazaire.

Same story in Maine-et-Loire since the mask is now compulsory in Angers, Cholet, Saumur, Trélazé and Beaupréau.

Other restrictive measures, such as travel restrictions, could follow if the situation worsens.

"These measures, if they must be taken, will be done in consultation with the elected officials concerned and on the advice of the regional health agency", reports the prefect of Loire-Atlantique and the Pays-de-la-Loire region.

The circulation of the virus is less worrying in Sarthe and Mayenne, two departments where the epidemic had resumed during the summer.
