Wildfires raging in parts of Oregon have prompted nearly half a million residents of the US state to stay on alert for mass evacuations.

The fire destroyed thousands of homes during the past days in Oregon, which has become the latest hotbed of fires that spread more widely in the summer and swept across the American West, resulting in the burning of large areas the size of the state of New Jersey and killing at least 25.

The British "BBC" website published a set of pictures of painful footage left by the Oregon fires.
