  • Covid-19 contaminations are increasing in Bouches-du-Rhône, where the active queue of intensive care admissions continues to increase.

  • Meetings were held all weekend between local elected officials and the prefecture services for the announcement of new measures planned for Monday.

The Covid-19 pandemic continues in France, and in particular in Bouches-du-Rhône, a department classified as red for the active circulation of the virus.

“The situation remains worrying, we are seeing a continuous trend in the number of contaminations.

We remain very vigilant on resuscitation capacities, the active queue continues to increase, ”the ARS informed 20 Minutes this Sunday.

Faced with this situation, Prime Minister Jean Castex announced Friday that he was waiting for a series of measures from the prefects of Bouches-du-Rhône, Gironde and Guadeloupe.

Despite a surgical operation which requires him to be absent from this Monday, it is the mayor of Marseille Michèle Rubirola who led the negotiations with the prefecture and other local elected officials, during the weekend.

"There is nothing extraordinary"

“Proposals were made before going back and forth with the prefecture on a number of points.

As I speak to you [Sunday afternoon], there is nothing extraordinary, ”wanted to reassure First Deputy Benoit Payan.

A final point is expected this Sunday evening, with announcements probably Monday morning.

According to our information, restrictions on the sale of alcohol in the evening should be taken.

Renaud Muselier, president of the Paca region, proposed to the prefect “the closure of beaches and parks from 8 pm” and to prohibit “wedding parties” in which “you kiss each other all the time”.

He considers these measures "strict, firm, but common sense."
