A fifth resident of the Ephad "Gloriande" of Séverac d'Aveyron died of Covid-19.

This facility for the elderly has been hit hard by the coronavirus epidemic in recent days, 49 residents and 20 employees having tested positive.

"A fifth resident died during the night after already a death on Saturday morning", explained Benjamin Ramel of the Regional Health Agency.

Call for solidarity

He also indicated that a call for solidarity was launched to “help the staff”.

"The management of the establishment and the ARS have launched an appeal for solidarity with other nursing homes in Aveyron to obtain reinforcements, in particular nursing assistants", he said.

A giant cluster, this Ehpad, located about forty kilometers east of Rodez, has to face a real staff problem.

The first positive cases were detected on September 4 and since then they have multiplied both among residents and among staff.

Since Saturday, the establishment has received reinforcement from Civil Protection personnel and a nurse, especially for night surveillance.

Families from the town have also mobilized to help, in particular “during meal times”.

"All residents are confined to their rooms and close monitoring of the evolution of their state of health is operated by the nursing staff and service", explained Saturday the Regional Health Agency Occitanie in a press release.
