La Loutre

  • The young Breton company La Loutre publishes a collection of regionalist posters.

  • Its two founders highlight the most beautiful Breton towns in a retro chic and quirky spirit.

  • The collection is gradually enriched with new French and foreign destinations.

"But no Rennes, you are not Vilaine", "Gone with Ushant", "You you my Groix" ... Sometimes chauvinistic or mocking, the slogans make you smile.

They are the hallmark of the young company La Loutre, established in Plouharnel (Morbihan) and Rennes.

Founded in 2017 by Jeanne Théard and Cléo Rouiller, the company quickly made a name for itself in the world of decoration and stationery.

It owes it to the success of its regionalist posters, with a retro chic spirit, which revisit the most beautiful towns in Brittany.

“We wanted to get out of the clichés of tourist postcards and highlight these cities with soft and tangy pastel colors,” says Cléo, the Morbihanaise of the pair.

This beautiful adventure is due to a happy twist of fate.

“We are basically a communication agency,” says the young woman.

But when we started our activity in summer, the period was rather slack.

So we worked on a postcard from Saint-Malo as a business card and it immediately hit the mark ”.

Enough in any case for the two young women to change their plans and embark on the design of posters.

Brittany, France and even internationally

Three years later, they now sell “between 1,000 and 1,500 per month”.

The collection has also grown with no less than 150 cities revisited.

There are many Breton islands and towns there, of course, including three posters just for Rennes.

But La Loutre has gradually broadened its playing field by launching a collection of French and even foreign cities, notably with Paris, Strasbourg, San Francisco and even Tokyo.

"We now have cities calling us to have their poster but we cannot accept all the requests," says Cléo.

At the beginning of October, La Loutre will also talk about her in Dinard since it is to the young Breton company that the team of the British film festival entrusted the design of the poster this year.
