France has recorded 9,406 new cases of Covid-19 according to figures released Friday by Public Health France.

A figure lower than the record of the day before (9,843) but which confirms the active circulation of the virus on the territory.

The test positivity rate remains stable at 5.4%.

Jean Castex announced the transition to red of 42 departments, against 28 previously, due to the active circulation of the virus.

"In two metropolitan areas, Marseille and Bordeaux, as well as in Guadeloupe, we are currently seeing a worrying trend in contamination, particularly among the elderly, as well as an already high rate of hospitalizations", also pointed out the Premier minister.

He therefore asked the prefects to propose to him on Monday "a set of new additional measures, after having carried out the necessary local consultations".

Duration of isolation, prioritization of tests 

The duration of isolation for contact cases has been reduced from 14 to 7 days while Jean Castex has also announced the establishment of a priority circuit for screening.

"If you have been in close contact with a positive person or if you are a nursing or similar staff, working in a hospital in an nursing home or at home, you have priority. For these people, we will strengthen the dedicated screening circuits , thus laboratories will reserve certain time slots for them, ”he said.

In addition, 2,000 people will also come to reinforce the staff of the ARS, for the tracing of contact cases. 

European countries take further action 

In Spain, the situation is also worrying.
