"Global Health" identifies 6 ways to combat smoking

On the occasion of the World No Tobacco Day, the World Health Organization (WHO) launched a call to all sectors around the world to provide assistance to stop the marketing methods used by the tobacco sector and related industries to lure children and youth.

The organization identified several methods, including:

Schools reject any form of sponsorship and prohibit representatives of the nicotine and tobacco companies from talking to students.

Celebrities reject all offers of sponsorship.

Broadcasting and television services should stop displaying cigarette or e-cigarette use clips on the screen.

Social media platforms prohibit the marketing of tobacco and related products and prohibit influencer marketing.

The government and financial sector is stripped of revenues from tobacco and related industries.

Governments prohibit all forms of tobacco advertising, promotion and sponsorship.
