  • An exhibition dedicated to Bourvil, who died 50 years ago, is being held in Lille until October 4, 2020.

  • Around 400 pieces are presented there, including its interpretation prize received at the Venice Festival.

Everyone knows Bourvil, even the new generations.

And yet the actor, who died 50 years ago, still offers some new facets thanks to an exhibition

Le cinéma de Bourvil

installed at the Palais Rihour in Lille, from this Friday until October 4 *, on the occasion of the CineComedies festival.

Interview with the exhibition curator, Pascal Delmotte.

What will we find in this exhibition dedicated to Bourvil?

Basically his acting career in cinema.

We leave aside the song and the operetta which were another part of his talent.

Through 400 pieces exhibited, it is a stroll in his film career, from his relatively unknown beginnings to the end.

The most important is the Volpi Cup for the best performance he received at the Venice Film Festival in 1956 for

La traversée de Paris

.

What else can we see there?

There is his desk, the candy cone from the movie

The Christmas Tree

, many photos from the set and a few photos from his youth.

We can read testimonials that I have collected from Gérard Oury, Laurent Terzieff or Danielle Delorme.

There are also three panels dedicated to his friendship with Annie Cordy to pay tribute to the latter.

I have around 7,000 pieces.

I like to rotate them during the various exhibitions that I am asked.

How did you start your collection around Bourvil?

I started collecting posters in 1986. I had been fascinated by the man while reading a biography.

Then, ten years later, I met his son, Dominique Raimbourg, a former deputy.

We hit it off and he gave me his father's archives.

From 1997, I started to organize exhibitions on Bourvil.

How would you define Bourvil?

It is humanity, work and universality.

I remember asking Philippe Noiret one day for a testimony.

He replied: "I don't have time, but what is it for?"

".

When I said to him, “it's about Bourvil”, immediately he retorted “Bourvil, it's not the same thing” and he told me about his experience with him.

Everyone meets in Bourvil.
