The Great Roman Games, which were to be held in the arenas of Nîmes (Gard) on October 23, 24 and 25, are canceled.

The show, which traces the conquest of Rome by Caesar, will not be able to stand, due to the Covid-19 epidemic.

"The travel restriction for the 500 volunteer re-enactors from France, Italy, Croatia ... and the 28 participating international associations does not ensure quality shows," said the city of Nîmes, in a press release.

On the other hand, the limit to 5,000 people in the arenas does not allow the financial balance of the event for the production of shows of a quality equivalent to the last ten editions of the Great Roman Games.

Moreover, the parades that punctuate the event could not have been held as well.

In May

The show dedicated to Julius Caesar should be held next May, "if sanitary conditions allow," notes the town.

Spectators can have their tickets refunded at the outlets where they purchased them until December 31.

In Nîmes, if the Great Roman Games are canceled, the very popular Feria des Vendanges will take place from September 17 to 20.

But in a "light" version.
