Diana Rigg, the British actress who rose to fame with The Avengers in the 1960s and recently returned to screens in
Game of Thrones
, has died at the
age of 82.

The actress's death has been reported by her daughter Rachel Stirling in a text that Rigg was diagnosed with cancer in March.
Rigg was born in Doncaster, in the north of England, but spent his childhood in India.

and made her debut at the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1959. When she fell into the cast of The Avengers, she played the role of secret agent and karateka Emma Peel.
