A detainee commits suicide in Rouen prison

A man detained in Rouen prison hanged himself Wednesday evening, we learned Thursday from the prison administration.

He “committed suicide by hanging himself in his cell early Wednesday evening.

Help intervened without succeeding in saving him, ”the Interregional Directorate of Prison Administration told an AFP correspondent.

According to a prison union source, the detainee was 36 years old and was awaiting trial.
