[Explanation] The blue-headed pochard, which is listed as a critically endangered (CR) species in the world and is known as the "bird giant panda", has recorded more than 1,500 individuals nationwide. Hubei, Henan and Shandong have the largest number of them. Hubei Province is the most, with 672, relatively concentrated in Wuhan Fuhe, Liangzi Lake and other plots.

  [Explanation] This species is a small wild duck of the Anatidae Anatidae, with a wide head and wide beak, blue head and white eyes, chestnut pattern, and it mainly feeds on aquatic plants.

In 2014, the green-headed pochard appeared for the first time in Fuhe Wetland.

Since then, they originally bred in Russia, Heilongjiang and other regions began to "migrate south".

  We in Wuhan belong to the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, and there is breeding in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River in Wuhan. In this Hebei, Hebei is the Yellow River Basin, and there is also breeding in the Yellow River Basin. Its breeding point is gradually expanding south and south.

It builds nests, lays eggs, hatches eggs, and hatches, which is a complete chain of evidence. The earliest evidence chain is in Wuhan.

  [Explanation] At 6 o'clock in the morning on September 9, the reporter followed Yan Jun and members of the Wuhan Bird Watching Association Mingliang to the Fuhe Wetland to monitor and investigate the blue-headed pochard duck, recording the location, quantity, behavior, and whether the species appeared. At present, the monitoring and investigation of Baer's Pochard has been carried out for 37 months.

  [Explanation] In November 2019, workers from the Wuhan Bird Watching Association observed 306 Pochard duck populations in the Fuhe Wetland, which once again refreshed the previous local Pochard duck population record.

From 2016 to 2019, the total number of bird species observed in Wuhan was 306, 321, 322, and 342, respectively, showing an increasing trend year by year.

  [Explanation] Yan Jun said that the current global wetland existence rate is 6%, while this indicator in Wuhan has reached 18.39%.

The choice of Baer Duck to settle in Wuhan is proof that the Hubei wetland group in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River is relatively well protected in the middle latitudes of the world.

  We feel that the current state of birds is getting closer and closer to people, and there are more and more species and numbers.

This actually reflects that one of us is that the ecological environment is improving (developing), because birds are a relatively dominant and important indicator of the ecological environment; the second is that the level of civilization is improving.

Both of these are indispensable.

  [Explanation] According to reports, blue-headed pochard was very common 100 years ago, widely distributed in China, Russia, India, Myanmar and other places.

With the rapid development of cities, the number of this species has plummeted in the past 10 years.

In 2010, the global statistical number was 1,000. In 2015, there were only about 400 remaining. Today, they are basically only distributed in China.
