In the past 24 hours, 8,577 new cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in France, according to data from the Directorate General of Health (DGS) published on Wednesday.

The day before, 6,500 new cases had been recorded, and 4,203 on Monday.

At the end of last week, between 7,000 and 9,000 new daily cases were identified.

The number of patients entering an intensive care unit was 71 over the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of sheave patients to 599. During the previous 48 hours, the number of sheaves was over 80 (per day) .

Last week, the average was around 50.

In one day, 71 new sources of contamination were detected

Thirty deaths in hospitals

The positivity rate (proportion of positive cases, among all people tested over 7 days), remained stable compared to the previous day, ie 5.2%.

Thirty people have died from Covid-19 since Tuesday, bringing the total number of deaths from this disease to 30,794 in France, since the start of the epidemic in France: 20,319 in hospitals and 10,475 (figures from September 7) in Ehpad.
