Ibrahim added - in his interview with the episode (9/9/2020) of the "Without Borders" program - that the previous regime did not have a real desire to achieve peace.

He stressed that the mediation was distinguished by its knowledge of the details of the Sudanese issue, and praised the role of the State of South Sudan in concluding this agreement, as well as the role of regional countries, especially Egypt, which hosted rounds of negotiations, as well as the role of Qatar and other countries.

Ibrahim stated that the agreement included different parties, and it was not with one geographical party without the other.

The head of the Sudanese Justice and Equality Movement said that the priorities of the peace agreement are for the people to adopt this agreement and cooperate with its parties in implementing it, stressing the need to expedite the formation of the mechanisms and commissions that were agreed upon to implement the agreement.

He explained that the formation of the agreement's mechanisms and delegations will take approximately 6 months, while the fulfillment of the peace agreement obligations will take a year or two.

In this regard, he pointed to the need for the feeling and participation of all components of society in state institutions, in a way that guarantees achieving justice in the distribution of power and wealth.

Ibrahim stressed that the time has come for the stability of Sudan, and for everyone to be partners in ruling their country, considering that the refusal to implement federal rule is what led to the secession of the south.

Ibrahim stressed that there will be a joint leadership of the forces that will be formed to maintain security in Darfur, explaining that the mission of these forces is to provide security and protect civilians and displaced persons.

Ibrahim talked about efforts being made to hold an inclusive conference for the people of the Darfur region to discuss their problems, stressing that "our fundamental issue that we will not give up on is restoring the rights of our people," calling on the victims of this war to submit proof of this to the competent authorities.

Economy and external relations

The head of the Sudanese Justice and Equality Movement added that his country needs to adjust the path of the economy to get out of the current situation, stressing that the search for real resources is an important element in the implementation of the agreement.

In this context, he continued, there are endeavors to hold conferences for donors, in order to contribute to fulfilling some peace obligations.

On the foreign relations file, Ibrahim said that they seek healthy international relations based on achieving the interests of the Sudanese people.

As for normalization with Israel, Ibrahim stated that the transitional government does not have a decision of this size, but rather this is the decision of the Sudanese people, which is taken by the parliament that will be elected.

He added that the peace agreement guarantees that the government fully cooperates with the International Criminal Court on the wanted persons.
