[Poverty Alleviation Story] "Trees" and "Silkworms" on the "Black Land": The villagers have a new life

  Shaowo Town, Nayong County, Guizhou Province is a large coal-producing town in Nayong County. Since 2019, Shaowo Town has tried to plant 3,400 mu of mulberry trees on this “black land”. In 2020, the planting area will increase by 13,280 mu. The current planting scale has reached 16,680 acres.

At the same time, the local area has also developed the silkworm industry through the model of "company + village cooperative + farmer households", forming the integration of mulberry and silkworm production and marketing, and realizing the real benefit connection between the industry and the poor.

At present, the total investment in industry is more than 34 million, helping 723 people in poverty-stricken households, including 590 people in industry and 129 people in employment.

In this “black land” of coal production, Shaowo Town, through the transformation and development of a green economy, not only allows the villagers to fully enjoy the dividends brought by mulberry tree planting and silkworm breeding, but also promotes the ecological development of Shaowo and promotes large coal production. Zhenshaowo has played a positive role on the road of ecological development from black to green.
