Guest of Europe Midi Wednesday, Isabelle Huppert returned to the film in which she plays the title role and which is released in cinemas this week: "La Daronne".
She details her character's personality and history, and says this role will go down as one of the most important in her filmography.

"It's a comedy, while being a bit of a thriller," explains Isabelle Huppert, guest of Europe 1 on Wednesday, on the occasion of the theatrical release of the feature film.
"But it is above all the portrait of a somewhat complex woman who is heading towards a sort of destiny," she says.

La Daronne
tells the story of Patience Portefeux, a widow in her fifties, who works as a freelance Arabic-French translator.
One day, she discovers that Khadija, the caregiver who takes care of her mother, is also the mother of a go-fast driver whose comments she regularly translates for the police.
When the narcotics squad organizes an operation to catch the young man in the act, she warns the nurse.

"She is a woman who fights in her daily life. She also lives in the memory of a past which is evoked in a precise enough way so that we can understand that there is a strong link which connects her to this. past and fundamentally, she experiences a kind of inner change throughout this whole story ", explains Isabelle Huppert.

But Patience Portefeux will break the law, take the lead of a traffic and become "La Daronne".

"I like the mix of genres in the film"
Beyond the work on the composition of the character, Isabelle Huppert had to learn Arabic, the language which composes many dialogues of the film.
“It was an interesting job and I really enjoyed doing it. I would love to continue, but it was very difficult,” she says.
Will La Daronne remain as one of the important characters in his filmography?
"Yes, I think so," replies Isabelle Huppert.
“Because it's still a character who can make people laugh and because I like the mix of genres in the film,” explains the actress.
Also, she really appreciates the character as such.
"I have a lot of affection for her and I like her name, Patience Portefeux, which I find very funny", concludes Isabelle Huppert.
