"When we do not have the same starting capital, we do not have the same chances," said Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday during a trip to Auvergne to promote measures in favor of "equal opportunities »Young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.

In an attempt to reverse the balance, Emmanuel Macron promised on Tuesday that the “ropes of success” device helping young people to access higher education and selective courses would go from 80,000 to 200,000 places.

"This new string of success, we are going to pass it from 80,000 today to 200,000 (places), with this scholarship system, with the strengthening of the means that we are going to put in place, to make it possible to identify, from the fourth , young people and to take them until the post-baccalaureate ”, declared the President.

"It is a formidable lever, through education and access to higher education, of equal opportunities, also with a permanent link with the company", he argued.

One boarding school of excellence per department

The President also confirmed that the number of boarding schools of excellence, intended to help young people from disadvantaged backgrounds or living far from the educational offer, would drop from a little less than forty currently to "one per department" by the start of the 2022 school year. “Today we have a little less than forty boarding schools of excellence.

By the start of the 2022 school year, we will bring this figure to one boarding school of excellence per department, ”said Emmanuel Macron.

The President also promised to "redouble" efforts on apprenticeship and work-study.

The Head of State had previously visited the premises of the aeronautical training center of the Roger-Claustres high school, in Aulnat, near Clermont-Ferrand (Puy-de-Dôme), then a center for the promotion of industry trades, where he discussed with students and trainers.
