After each drinking night, it's the same catchphrase: headaches, nausea and fatigue.

Finnish researchers have found a treatment against the effects of overwatered evenings.

But is it credible?

Dr Jimmy Mohamed returns to this discovery on Friday in Sans rendez-vous on Europe 1.

It's a dream shared by all party animals: to find an effective cure for a hangover.

Finnish researchers at the University of Helsinki have found a treatment against the effects of overwatering evenings, headaches, nausea and fatigue in the head.

But can we really believe it?

Are There Really Effective Hangover Cures?

Doctor Jimmy Mohamed, doctor and columnist on Europe 1, returns this Friday to this discovery in the program Sans rendez-vous, which recalls that the best way not to have a hangover is to limit your consumption of 'alcohol.

Why do we have symptoms the day after a party?

According to Jimmy Mohamed, knowledge on the subject remains rather vague.

"It must be said that we do not really understand the mechanisms of a hangover. We know that it is mainly linked to a hormone that we have trouble secreting, which is called ADH, which is anti -diuretic (on average four glasses of alcohol make you lose nearly a liter of water) ", develops the doctor.

"This will make it difficult to retain water. The next day, we have headaches and nausea because it seems that we are lacking a little water, this could be linked to dehydration or the fact that you're weaning, you run out of alcohol and need an extra drink. Which is… a really bad idea! "

"When we say hangover we get the impression that it's something nice relative to the day after a party. However, it's an acute alcohol poisoning. We drank too much. It was experienced as poisoning. by the body and therefore inevitably the next day, we do not feel good, "he warns.

What is this new "miracle" hangover cure?

Finnish researchers have discovered "an amino acid, a kind of protein called cysteine", explains Jimmy Mohamed.

They gave cysteine to 19 volunteers who had to ingest 1.5 g of alcohol per kilogram of body mass, or the equivalent of eight to nine typical drinks.

Some of these volunteers were given a placebo.

The result: no hangovers for people who have taken cysteine.

A revolutionary method?

Not really, according to Dr Jimmy Mohamed, since "the study is funded by a company that sells cysteine. It can pose a problem ..." For him, the scientific interest of the study is as it is "close to 0 ", by virtue of the number of participants and the identity of the funders.

So what to do after a drunken night?

The main advice given by doctor Jimmy Mohamed is to rest, drink plenty of water and above all be careful what you drink during an evening and… "wait for it to pass".

Hangovers are produced by dehydration, so you have to compensate by drinking water, broths or even fruit juices, but not too acidic.

It is also necessary to pay attention to what you eat when you have a hangover.

Even if the burger is tempting, you should not eat too fatty, sweet or salty.

The liver must be spared: the massive arrival of ethanol in the body will cause a drop in sugar which explains the immense fatigue that our body has to face.

It is advisable to favor a light meal, so as not to overload the liver, with vitamins and proteins.

And during the evening, it is about being careful what you drink.

Doctor Jimmy Mohamed recommends "not to mix alcohols".

Another little-known piece of advice: "headaches can be linked to sulphites which are present in wines, including white wine and champagne".

The most effective is still for him to "limit your consumption to three or four glasses of alcohol at most during a party and you will not have these symptoms".
