Due to the impact of the new coronavirus, the city of Urayasu, Chiba Prefecture, whose local city tax revenues were close to 4.2 billion yen compared to the initial forecast, due to a large drop in tourism due to the long-term suspension of operations at Tokyo Disney Resort. It is expected to decrease.

Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, which are located in Urayasu City, Chiba Prefecture, were closed for about four months due to the effect of the new coronavirus.

According to Urayasu City, the city's tax revenue for the current fiscal year was expected to be 42.2 billion yen including the municipal tax and property tax in the initial budget.

However, due to the effects of the holidays, the income tax will decrease by about 4.2 billion yen, centering on corporate municipal tax, to about 38 billion yen.

The city is issuing 1.1 billion yen of local bonds to cover the decrease in revenue, and is retiring business plans for the current fiscal year, such as canceling reserves for the maintenance of street trees and repairs of public facilities.

Urayasu City will submit a supplementary budget plan based on this to the city council opening on the 4th.

Urayasu City Mayor Etsushi Uchida said, "We are in a very difficult situation with unprecedented revenue reductions, but we want to overcome citizen services without stagnation."
