The Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, has criticized this Thursday the promotional poster of the

Patria

series

and has covered the criticism of the victims of terrorism.

During a press conference to take stock of the Traffic summer operation, Grande-Marlaska was

critical of the equidistance

on the issue of terrorism and sided with the discomfort shown by the Foundation for the Victims of Terrorism with the HBO advertising that equates victims and executioners.

He recalled that

the victims are "a moral reference"

of Spanish society and defended their dignity.

The minister did not want to go into whether, as the victims defend, the producer should withdraw the promotional poster.

"There is freedom of expression, everyone will know their responsibility," she said.

"There is no room for equidistance," he

insisted.

The minister defended the right to protect the dignity of the victims.

"As a Basque and Spanish citizen, we must respect the ethics and dignity of the victims of terrorism because they are an example of freedom," said the minister.

The Victims' Foundation, chaired by Tomás Caballero, called for the

"immediate withdrawal" of the advertising

of the

Patria

series

with the current poster and that its reproduction be prohibited "through any means or advertising medium."

Likewise, he

requested that any other campaign in the series be prohibited "in similar terms

, with express warning of the impossibility of trivializing terrorism or allowing the normalization and social acceptance of the terrorist gang."

The 'Homeland' poster that has provoked criticism from victims of terrorism.

"The Foundation considers that certain communication strategies are not acceptable or legal when it comes to terrorism. It seems that the advertiser,

HBO, deliberately seeks the response of the group of victims of terrorism

and the public powers, and also of the society in general, to achieve a greater diffusion of its product for free, "he criticized.

"Not everything goes when it comes to promoting an audiovisual product with a graphic image and a slogan that in no way resembles what was brilliantly written by Fernando Aramburu."

"The publicity denounced supposes a humiliation to the victims of terrorism, by flagrantly obviating the right to memory and a fair account that the Law confers on them. For the victims,

this poster trivializes terrorism

.

"The right to the protection of the dignity of the victims collides head-on with the equidistance implied by the message contained in the promotional campaign, especially when it is going to be contemplated by numerous victims either directly or through the media. ", has assured.
